Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
hCG beta is the beta chain of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a 40 kDa glycoprotein hormone produced by trophoblastic cells of the placenta beginning 10–12 days after conception.
hCG is composed of alpha and beta subunits that are non-covalently associated. The alpha subunit is similar to those found in pituitary hormones (FSH, LH, TSH), while the beta subunit confers biological specificity.
During early pregnancy, hCG binds to the corpus luteum of the ovary to stimulate progesterone production, maintaining the secretory endometrium.
Diseases associated with hCG dysfunction include gestational trophoblastic tumor and hydatidiform mole.
