Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56, also known as Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM).
CD56 is a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and plays a role in homotypic adhesion of neural cells. In the hematopoietic system, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells (NKT cells).

Staining with TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating different epitopes. TULY56 performs better after fixation and permeabilization than CMSSB.
The antibody cross-reacts with Rhesus macaque.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested with normal human peripheral blood cells (5 µL/test).
Each product includes:

• 1 vial of CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer

Important Notes:

• NovaFluor dyes are incompatible with DNA intercalating viability dyes (e.g., PI, 7-AAD, DAPI).
• Use Invitrogen LIVE/DEAD Fixable Dead Cell stains for viability.
• CellBlox Plus Blocking Buffer (Cat. No. C001T06F01) is required for optimal staining.
• Add 5 µL per sample to antibody cocktails/master mixes before combining with cells.

NovaFluor conjugates utilize Phiton technology for engineered fluorescent signatures minimizing spillover and spread.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family involved in cell adhesion and neural development.
It is expressed in neurons, NK cells, and subsets of T cells.
Functions include:

• Cell migration and axonal growth
• Synaptic plasticity
• Homophilic and heterophilic interactions with laminin and integrins

CD56 is expressed on neuroectodermal-derived cell lines, tissues, and tumors (e.g., retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, neuroblastoma).
It is a sensitive neuroendocrine marker used for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
Dysfunction is associated with rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
