Target Information
Melanoma-associated antigens (MAGE) are silent in normal tissues except for male germ cells and, for some members, placenta. These antigens are tumor-specific and expressed in various tumor types, making them of interest for antitumor immunotherapy.
MAGE family genes encode tumor antigens recognized by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes in human melanoma. Although the function of MAGEH1 is not fully elucidated, it may play a role in embryonal development, tumor transformation, or progression.
