Target Information

TCF12 (also known as HTF4) is a member of the basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) E-protein family that recognizes the E-box consensus sequence (CANNTG).
It is expressed in various tissues including skeletal muscle, thymus, and lymphocytes (B- and T-cells).
TCF12 forms heterodimers with other bHLH E-proteins to regulate lineage-specific gene expression.
Together with E2A, TCF12 is essential for blocking thymocyte proliferation before pre-TCR expression and is critical for proper T cell differentiation.
Recent studies indicate that TCF12 also plays a key role in invariant natural killer T cell development.
