Cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6)는 cytochrome P450 효소 초가족에 속하는 효소로, 약물 대사 및 콜레스테롤, 스테로이드, 기타 지질 합성에 관여하는 monooxygenase입니다. 이 단백질은 소포체(endoplasmic reticulum)에 위치하며, 일반적으로 처방되는 약물의 약 20%를 대사시킵니다. 주요 기질로는 adrenergic-blocking 약물인 debrisoquine, 항부정맥제인 sparteine 및 propafenone, 항우울제인 amitriptyline 등이 있습니다.
CYP2D6 유전자는 고도로 다형성을 보이며, 일부 대립유전자는 효소 기질 대사 능력이 저하된 poor metabolizer 표현형을 유발합니다. 이 유전자는 염색체 22q13.1에 위치하며, 두 개의 cytochrome P450 유사유전자(pseudogene) 근처에 존재합니다. 또한, 다양한 isoform을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 보고되어 있습니다.
