Product Specific Information

The PA1-73049 antibody reacts with Influenza A virions H3N2.
It has been successfully used in Immunohistochemistry, ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Western blot applications.
The antibody was raised against Influenza A, strain Texas 1/77 (H3N2).

Target Information

Influenza viruses consist of three types (A, B, and C), which make up three of the five genera in the Orthomyxoviridae family. Commonly known as the flu, influenza strains can infect both birds and mammals.
Influenza virions are roughly spherical particles with a viral envelope containing two main glycoproteins (hemagglutinin and neuraminidase) surrounding the central core of the viral RNA genome and associated proteins.
The genome is composed of seven to eight segmented fragments of negative-sense RNA, each encoding different viral proteins.
Influenza spreads seasonally, causing millions of severe infections annually and hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide, with higher numbers during pandemics.
