The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the aldo-keto reductase superfamily. Members of this family share an evolutionarily conserved TIM barrel structure and catalyze NAD(P)H-dependent oxido-reduction of carbonyl groups. Transcripts are detected in human testis, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
