Target Information
MRG15 is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, which participates in transcriptional activation of select genes through acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 and H2A. This modification can alter nucleosome–DNA interactions and promote binding of modified histones with other proteins that positively regulate transcription. The complex may be necessary for activation of transcriptional programs related to oncogene and proto-oncogene mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor mediated growth arrest, replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
