Product Specific Information

This peptide corresponds to 17 amino acids near the amino terminus of mouse Noxa.
PEP-0305 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-19977.

Target Information

Apoptosis is related to many diseases and developmental processes. The p53 tumor-suppressor protein induces apoptosis through transcriptional activation of several genes including p53R2, p53AIP1, and PUMA.
A new p53 target gene, Noxa, was identified, encoding a protein belonging to the subfamily of BH3-only proapoptotic proteins. Noxa and PUMA are both transcriptional targets of p53.
X-ray irradiation increases p53-dependent Noxa mRNA and protein levels. When ectopically expressed, Noxa interacts with anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members, resulting in caspase-9 activation.
Noxa, like PUMA, localizes to mitochondria and induces apoptosis in response to p53, representing a direct mediator of p53-induced apoptosis. Increased levels of p53 and its target gene Noxa are associated with impaired tumor development.
