Target Information
ATP2C1, also known as secretory pathway Ca²⁺/Mn²⁺-ATPase (SPCA1), belongs to the family of P-type cation transport ATPases.
This magnesium-dependent enzyme catalyzes ATP hydrolysis coupled with calcium transport from the cytosol to the Golgi lumen.
Defects in ATP2C1 cause Hailey-Hailey disease, characterized by persistent skin blisters and erosions.
Unlike ATP2C2, ATP2C1 is ubiquitously expressed, shows a lower turnover rate for Ca²⁺-ATPase reaction, and higher affinity for cytosolic Ca²⁺ activation.
Recent studies suggest ATP2C1 regulates IGF1R processing in tumor progression of basal breast cancers.
