GDF9 (Growth Differentiation Factor 9)는 BMP(bone morphogenetic protein) 계열 및 TGF-beta 슈퍼패밀리에 속하는 단백질입니다. 이 단백질군은 폴리염기성 프로테아제 절단 부위를 가지며, 절단 후 7개의 보존된 시스테인 잔기를 포함하는 성숙 단백질을 형성합니다.
GDF9는 난소의 체세포에서 합성되는 성장 인자로, 난자의 성장과 기능에 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 난포형성(ovarian folliculogenesis)에 필수적인 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
