Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific.
They consist of a mixture of multiple different recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.

While functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies—recognizing multiple epitope sites and offering higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets—Superclonal™ antibodies have a defined and reproducible composition of light and heavy chains. This eliminates the biological variability typically associated with polyclonal antibody production.

Target Information

Synaptophysin is a calcium-binding, integral membrane glycoprotein found in presynaptic vesicles of nearly all neurons.
It contains four transmembrane domains and forms complexes with dynamin under high calcium conditions, suggesting a role in synaptic vesicle endocytosis.
Synaptophysin also contributes to both short-term and long-term synaptic plasticity and serves as a widely used marker for nerve terminals and neuroendocrine tumor differentiation.
Mutations in the gene are associated with X-linked mental retardation.
