This antibody does not cross-react with recombinant mouse Integrin beta 1, beta 2, beta 6, beta 7, or recombinant human Integrin beta 3.
Target Information
Integrins are heterodimers composed of alpha and beta subunits that form noncovalently associated transmembrane glycoprotein receptors. Different alpha-beta combinations determine ligand-binding specificity. Integrins mediate cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion and transduce signals regulating gene expression and cell growth.
The Integrin beta 4 (CD104) subunit acts as a receptor for laminins, typically associating with the alpha 6 subunit. It plays a key role in invasive carcinoma biology. Mutations in this gene are linked to epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
