Target Information
Cytokeratin 19 is part of a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 distinct polypeptides.
Cytokeratins range in molecular weight from 40–68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9–7.8.
Expression patterns of cytokeratin subtypes are used to distinguish epithelial malignancies and assess differentiation status.
Cytokeratin 19 is not expressed in hepatocytes, making it useful for identifying liver metastases.
Cytokeratin antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry and are valuable in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
