Target Information
HRG (Histidine-rich glycoprotein) contains two cystatin-like domains and is located in plasma and platelets.
Although its physiological function is not fully determined, it is known to bind heme, dyes, and divalent metal ions.
The protein inhibits rosette formation and interacts with heparin, thrombospondin, and plasminogen.
Its effects on fibrinolysis inhibition and reduced coagulation inhibition suggest a potential prothrombotic role.
Mutations in HRG can cause thrombophilia due to abnormal histidine-rich glycoprotein levels.
