Target Information
Members of the TNF superfamily regulate immune responses and induce apoptosis. APRIL (A Proliferation-Inducing Ligand), also known as TALL2 or TRDL1a, is a novel member of this family identified in human and mouse. Two receptors for APRIL, TACI and BCMA, mediate its biological effects. APRIL stimulates B and T cell proliferation, triggers humoral immune responses, activates NF-κB, and induces cell death. APRIL, along with its relative BlyS and their receptors BCMA and TACI, are implicated in autoimmune diseases and cancer.
