Target Information
TSC2 (Tuberin, Tuberous sclerosis complex, TSC Complex Subunit 2) is a tumor suppressor protein involved in vesicular transport, regulation of cell growth arrest, and transcription mediated by steroid receptors.
It forms a cytosolic complex with hamartin (TSC1), acting as a chaperone and regulating GTPase activity of RAP1A and RAB5.
Phosphorylation at Ser939 and Thr1462 modulates its interaction with hamartin via the PI3K/Akt pathway.
Mutations in TSC2 are associated with diseases such as lymphangioleiomyomatosis and angiomyolipoma.
Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms of TSC2.
