Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family. DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases involved in various cellular processes such as translation initiation, splicing, and ribosome assembly. Some members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth. The encoded nucleolar protein interacts with nuclear receptors in a hormone-dependent manner and represses their transcriptional activity. Alternative splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
