Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature (RT).
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
Target Information
EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates signaling in response to various growth factors. Overexpression of EGFR has been associated with numerous cancer types and serves as a target for both biological and small molecule therapeutics.
The EGFR gene is located on chromosome 7 in humans and belongs to the HER/ERbB family, which includes ERbB2, ERbB3, and ERbB4. EGFR is a transmembrane receptor; ligand binding (e.g., EGF, TGF-α) induces receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in its cytoplasmic domain.
Overexpression has been observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and squamous cell carcinoma.
