이 단백질은 RNA 결합에 필요한 N-terminal RNP1 및 RNP2 모티프와, 다른 세포 단백질과의 상호작용에 중요한 C-terminal SR/RS 반복 서열을 포함합니다.
FUSIP1은 adenovirus E1A pre-mRNA의 splice site 선택에 영향을 미치며, oncoprotein TLS와 상호작용하여 TLS의 영향을 억제합니다.
이 유전자는 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화하는 최소 두 개의 전사 변이체를 생성하며, 대체 polyA site를 사용하는 전사 변이체도 존재합니다.
