- Specificity: Human PCNA
Target Information
PCNA (polymerase delta auxiliary protein) is essential for DNA replication and is involved in DNA excision and mismatch repair pathways.
PCNA binds to CDK inhibitor p21, endonucleases Fen1 and XPG, and DNA cytosine 5-methyltransferase (MCMT).
It serves as a marker for proliferative cells and is used to assess tumor proliferation status.
PCNA is localized in the nucleus and acts as a cofactor for DNA polymerase delta, functioning as a homotrimer to enhance leading strand synthesis during replication.
Upon DNA damage, PCNA is ubiquitinated and participates in the RAD6-dependent DNA repair pathway.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified, and pseudogenes exist on chromosome 4 and the X chromosome.
