This antibody detects both 158V and 158F allotype on natural NK cells.
Target Information
CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in clearance of immune complexes, cellular mediated cytotoxicity, and enhancement of virus infections.
The FCGR3A gene shares high similarity with FCGR3B on chromosome 1.
FCGR3A is expressed on NK cells as an integral membrane glycoprotein, while FCGR3B is expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) with a phosphatidylinositol linkage.
Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with immunodeficiency 20, susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
