Target Information
Isocitrate dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to 2-oxoglutarate. These enzymes are divided into NAD- and NADP-dependent subclasses. Five isocitrate dehydrogenases are known: three NAD-dependent mitochondrial forms and two NADP-dependent forms (one mitochondrial, one cytosolic). The IDH2 protein is the NADP-dependent mitochondrial isozyme involved in intermediary metabolism and energy production, and may associate with the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex.
