Target Information
LYK5, also known as STE20-related Adaptor Protein (STRAD) or FLJ90524, is mapped to locus 17q23.3. Members of the STE-20 like kinase family stimulate MAPK pathways by directly activating MAPKKK.
STRAD is a pseudokinase member of this family with a STE-20 like kinase domain but lacks key residues required for catalytic activity. It specifically binds LKB1 and regulates its tumor suppressor functions. STRAD acts as an upstream activator of LKB1 and anchors it in the cytoplasm, influencing its sub-cellular localization. The STRAD-LKB1 interaction leads to phosphorylation of STRAD and enhanced autophosphorylation of LKB1.
