Target Information
NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and coordinates several cellular functions such as cell cycle control, DNA damage response, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy.
SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and can alter histone and DNA methylation, leading to transcriptional repression. It is essential in skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates inhibitory effects on myoblast differentiation under low nutrient conditions involving AMPK and NAMPT pathways.
