Target Information
TNIK (TRAF2 and NCK interacting kinase) is characterized by an N-terminal kinase domain and a C-terminal GCK domain that serves a regulatory function.
It is mainly expressed in brain, heart, and spleen, and acts as a specific effector of RAP2, which regulates the actin cytoskeleton.
TNIK is autophosphorylated in a lys54-dependent manner within the ATP-binding pocket of its kinase domain and plays a key role in cytoskeleton regulation.
It phosphorylates gelsolin, an actin-severing protein, in vitro, suggesting its functional role in cytoskeleton dynamics.
