Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein purified from Streptomyces avidinii. It is widely used in molecular biology protocols due to its strong affinity for biotin.
Strep II tag (NWSHPQFEK) is a nine-amino-acid peptide with high specificity and affinity toward streptavidin.
GenScript THE™ NWSHPQFEK Tag Antibody [FITC], mAb, Mouse is THE™ NWSHPQFEK Tag Antibody conjugated with FITC, suitable for detecting expression levels of NWSHPQFEK (Strep II tag) tagged fusion proteins.
Target Information
The Strep-tag II is an eight-residue minimal peptide sequence (Trp-Ser-His-Pro-Gln-Phe-Glu-Lys) exhibiting intrinsic affinity toward streptavidin.
It can be fused to recombinant proteins for purification or detection purposes.
The original Strep-tag was a nine-amino-acid peptide allowing affinity purification via streptavidin columns but restricted to C-terminal fusion.
Strep-tag II was re-engineered to enable placement at both N- and C-termini of recombinant proteins.
