Target Information
The Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel (VDAC) of the outer mitochondrial membrane is a small, abundant protein found across all eukaryotic kingdoms. It forms a voltage-gated pore when integrated into planar lipid bilayers. VDAC also serves as the binding site for metabolic enzymes such as hexokinase and glycerol kinase, contributing to metabolic regulation.
VDAC3 specifically facilitates the translocation of adenine nucleotides through the outer mitochondrial membrane.
