Target Information
IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine composed of the p40 subunit shared with IL-12 and a unique p19 subunit. It interacts with IL-12Rβ1 and IL-23R, activating the Jak-Stat signaling pathway. IL-23 is secreted by activated dendritic cells and plays a crucial role in inflammation and autoimmune processes.
Human IL-23 promotes proliferation of memory T cells, induces moderate IFN-γ levels, and supports Th17 cell differentiation, which enhances neutrophil chemokine and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression.
In mouse models, IL-23 exhibits anti-tumor and anti-metastatic activity, suggesting potential therapeutic applications in cancer research.
