Target Information

Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit composed of 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins.
RPL13 encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L13E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm and expressed at higher levels in benign breast lesions than in breast carcinomas.
Transcript variants from alternative splicing or polyadenylation exist but encode the same protein. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
