Target Information
B4GALT1 유전자는 7개의 beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase (beta4GalT) 유전자 중 하나로, UDP-galactose를 donor로 하여 galactose를 beta1,4 결합 형태로 GlcNAc, Glc, Xyl 등의 수용체 당에 전달합니다. 각 beta4GalT는 서로 다른 당사슬 및 글리코콘주게이트 생합성에 관여하며, Golgi apparatus로 이동하는 N-말단 신호 서열을 포함한 type II 막단백질입니다.
특히 B4GALT1은 glycoconjugate 및 lactose 생합성 모두에 관여하는 유일한 beta4GalT 유전자로, lactating mammary tissue에서는 α-lactalbumin과 복합체를 형성하여 UDP-galactose와 D-glucose로부터 lactose를 생성합니다.
