Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box.
F-box proteins are subunits of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin protein ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are divided into three classes:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing various protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

FBXO2 belongs to the Fbxs class and shows high similarity to rat NFB42, a neural F-box protein enriched in the nervous system, potentially involved in maintaining neurons in a postmitotic state.
