Antibody detects endogenous levels of total GSDMD protein, including precursor and the cleaved N-terminal fragment.
Target Information
GSDMD (gasdermin-D) promotes pyroptosis in response to microbial infection and danger signals. It is cleaved by inflammatory caspases CASP1 or CASP4 during canonical and non-canonical inflammasome activation. After cleavage, GSDMD translocates to the plasma membrane and binds strongly to inner leaflet lipids such as phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate, phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-biphosphate, phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-biphosphate, phosphatidic acid, and phosphatidylserine. GSDMD also exhibits bactericidal activity.
