Target Information
Centromere and kinetochore proteins are essential for centromere structure, kinetochore formation, and sister chromatid separation.
CENPH colocalizes with inner kinetochore plate proteins CENP-A and CENP-C during interphase and metaphase.
It localizes outside centromeric heterochromatin (CENP-B region) and inside the kinetochore corona (CENP-E region) during prometaphase.
CENPH may bind to itself and to CENP-A, CENP-B, or CENP-C.
Multimers of CENPH are constitutively localized to the inner kinetochore plate and play a key role in active centromere-kinetochore complex organization and function.
