Target Information
TMEM30A is an accessory component of a P4-ATPase flippase complex that catalyzes ATP-dependent transport of aminophospholipids from the outer to the inner membrane leaflet, maintaining phospholipid asymmetry. This process contributes to vesicle formation and uptake of lipid signaling molecules. TMEM30A assists in substrate binding, proper folding, assembly, and ER to Golgi transport of ATP8A2:TMEM30A flippase complexes. It is also implicated in neurite outgrowth regulation and phosphatidylserine (PS) transport. The ATP8A1:TMEM30A complex may regulate cell migration via phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) translocation. TMEM30A is required for formation of ATP8A2, ATP8B1, and ATP8B2 P-type ATPase intermediate phosphoenzymes and mediates uptake of platelet-activating factor (PAF), edelfosine, and perifosine. It also facilitates export of ATP8A1, ATP8B1, ATP8B2, ATP8B4, ATP10A, ATP10B, ATP10D, ATP11A, ATP11B, and ATP11C from the ER to other membranes.
