Target Information
Myc is a proto-oncogene encoding a nuclear phosphoprotein involved in cell cycle progression, apoptosis, and cellular transformation. It forms a heterodimer with MAX, binding to E box DNA sequences to regulate transcription of target genes. MYC amplification is common in human cancers, and translocations are linked to Burkitt lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Translation may initiate from both non-AUG (CUG) and AUG start sites, producing two isoforms with distinct N-termini.
