Target Information
NTRK1 (TRKA) is a member of the neurotrophic factor family, essential for the development and maintenance of the mammalian nervous system. TrkA is a membrane-bound receptor that, upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and components of the MAPK pathway. Its presence induces cell differentiation and may influence sensory neuron subtype specification. Mutations in TrkA are linked to congenital insensitivity to pain, anhidrosis, self-mutilating behavior, mental retardation, and cancer.
