Target Information
GADD153 is a small nuclear protein capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. The resulting complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining binding activity to non-classical C/EBP stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 expression is low but is highly upregulated during cellular or ER stress, such as treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
