  • Positive Control: HeLa or MCF7 cells, human testis or brain.
  • Cellular Localization: Cytoplasm; localized to cytosol and centrosome.
  • Specificity Comments: Participates in the primary piRNA biogenesis pathway and is required during spermatogenesis to repress transposable elements and maintain germline integrity. The piRNA metabolic process mediates repression of transposable elements during meiosis through complexes of piRNAs and Piwi proteins, governing methylation and transposon repression. Required for the final steps of primary piRNA biogenesis by processing 31–37 nt intermediates into mature piRNAs. May function in pi-bodies and piP-bodies transferring piRNA precursors between granules.

Target Information

TDRKH is a protein of unknown function containing one tudor domain and two KH domains. It interacts with PIWIL1 and PIWIL4 by binding to methylated arginine residues.
