Target Information
FGF-8 (FGF-8b) is a heparin-binding growth factor of the FGF family. Members of this family are crucial for prenatal development, postnatal growth, and tissue regeneration through promotion of cellular proliferation and differentiation.
There are four known splice variants: FGF-8A, FGF-8B, FGF-8E, and FGF-8F. Human and murine FGF-8A/B are identical, while FGF-8E/F show 98% identity between species.
FGF-8 targets mammary carcinoma cells and other cells expressing FGF receptors.
