Target Information
Interferon-inducible T-cell alpha chemoattractant (I-TAC), also known as CXCL11 or IP-9, belongs to the CXC chemokine family. It is expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes, pancreas, liver, thymus, spleen, lung, small intestine, placenta, and prostate. The protein (8–11 kDa) regulates calcium release and induces chemotactic responses in activated T-cells as a dominant ligand for CXC receptor-3. Its gene contains four exons and multiple polyadenylation signals, suggesting cell-specific regulation. IFN-γ strongly induces its transcription, and expression is upregulated in patients with AIDS, dementia, and multiple sclerosis.
