Target Information
The protein encoded by the DBN1 gene is a cytoplasmic actin-binding protein involved in neuronal growth. It belongs to the drebrin family, which is developmentally regulated in the brain. Reduced levels of this protein have been associated with memory disturbances in Alzheimer’s disease. Two alternative splice variants encoding different isoforms are known.
