Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulating TCR complex expression. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by genes on chromosome 11. They contain cytoplasmic tails with tyrosine-based motifs that mediate signal transduction. CD3 is expressed on most T lymphocytes and thymocytes but not on B or NK cells. It may play roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, survival, and proliferation. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
