CD73는 중성 pH에서 퓨린 5'-모노뉴클레오티드를 뉴클레오사이드로 전환하는 효소로, 주로 AMP를 기질로 사용합니다. 이 단백질은 두 개의 동일한 70 kDa 서브유닛으로 구성된 이합체 형태로, 세포막 외부에 glycosyl phosphatidyl inositol 결합을 통해 부착되어 있습니다.
CD73는 림프구 분화의 마커로 사용되며, 결핍 시 다양한 면역결핍 질환과 관련이 있습니다. 세포질 및 리소좀에도 다른 형태의 5'-뉴클레오티다아제가 존재하나, 이들은 기질 친화도, Mg²⁺ 요구도, ATP 활성화 및 무기 인산 억제 특성으로 CD73과 구별됩니다.
CD73 유전자는 염색체 6q14-q21에 위치하며, 해당 유전자의 결함은 관절 및 동맥 석회화, 장 결핵 등과 관련이 있습니다. 두 가지 전사 변이체가 보고되어 있으며, 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
