Product Specific Information
TRA-1-81 recognizes an antigen similar in size to those detected by TRA-1-60, GCTM2, K4, and K21. These antibodies exhibit distinct but overlapping expression patterns in tumor-derived cell lines. TRA-1-81 and TRA-1-60 epitopes are associated with different molecular species, both related to keratan sulfate core molecules expressed by human embryonal carcinoma (EC) cells. Clone cl.26 likely recognizes the carbohydrate portion of the molecule, as TRA-1-60 activity increases after neuraminidase treatment.
This antibody specifically targets the TRA-1-81 antigen. On western blots, it identifies a band at approximately 200–400 kDa. Reactivity has been confirmed with human EC1003.7 and NTERA-2 cell lysates (WB), smooth muscle cells in frozen normal human tissues (IHC/IF), and lysates from 125I surface-labeled 2102Ep cl.2A6 human EC cells (IP).
Target Information
TRA-1-81 is a cell surface antigen expressed alongside SSEA-3, SSEA-4, and TRA-1-60 in human embryonic stem cells, embryonal carcinoma cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS). These markers are downregulated during differentiation. In contrast, SSEA-1 is absent in undifferentiated stem cells but appears after retinoic acid–mediated differentiation.
