SSTR2 (somatostatin receptor 2)는 7개의 막관통 영역을 가진 수용체 초과가족(superfamily)에 속하며, 대뇌와 신장에서 높은 수준으로 발현됩니다. 소마토스타틴은 다양한 부위에서 여러 호르몬 및 분비 단백질의 분비를 억제하는 작용을 합니다. 해당 수용체는 pertussis toxin에 민감한 G 단백질을 통해 아데닐산 사이클라아제(adenylyl cyclase)를 억제합니다.
