Target Information
BMI-1 is a component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1 complex, which maintains transcriptional repression of genes such as Hox during development. The PRC1 complex modifies chromatin by monoubiquitination of histone H2A at Lys-119, altering gene expressibility. Within PRC1, BMI-1 stimulates the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity of RNF2/RING2.
