이 단백질들은 세포외기질(ECM)의 분해 및 재형성을 조절하며, 이는 배아발생, 형태학적 성장 변화, 염증, 종양 침윤 및 전이에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
ADAMTS 단백질은 프로펩타이드 도메인, 금속단백분해효소 도메인, 디스인테그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 다양한 수의 thrombospondin type-1 (TSP-1) 모티프를 포함하는 C-말단 영역으로 구성되어 있습니다.
ADAMTS 유전자는 주로 태아의 폐, 신장, 간 등에서 발현되며, 인간 ADAMTS10 유전자는 염색체 19p13.3에 위치합니다.
