Target Information
This gene belongs to a family of Sp1-related genes that encode transcription factors regulating transcription by binding to GC- and GT-box elements in target genes. It contains a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and transactivation domains, functioning as a bifunctional transcription factor that can either stimulate or repress transcription of numerous genes. Multiple transcript variants and isoforms have been described, including one initiating translation from a non-AUG (AUA) start codon. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 13.
