Target Information
Human papillomavirus (HPV)-induced cervical cancer is a major health issue among women and accounts for a high mortality rate due to late diagnosis and poor prognosis.
The initial establishment and subsequent progression of this cancer type are completely dependent on two major oncogenes, E6 and E7, which are constitutively expressed and lead to tumorigenesis.
E6 is a relatively large protein consisting of 150–160 amino acids, encoding an 18 kDa protein. Its unique structure has been found responsible for the oncogenicity of the protein.
